FAQ

Q:

What are the eligibility requirements for co-op?

A:

Applicants are encouraged to follow a Classical Charlotte Mason form of education.

Families must have at least one child six years old or older by December 31st and in first grade through eighth grade.  However, students in  Pre-K and Kindergarten are welcome to enroll if they have an older sibling enrolled.   A parent must be present for the duration of the co-op day and work to assist their child as needed.  We are not currently enrolling high school-aged children for our first term but will reevaluate this option with each successive term depending on demand.

Q:

When and where does the co-op meet?

A:

Our future meeting location will be determined by the size of our group.  This may be at a home, outdoor area, or if necessary a church or rented facilities.

Q:

How much does the co-op cost?

A:

The tuition is $50 per family per twelve-week term.  Other costs include an application fee of $20 per family and a supply fee of $20 per student. There may be additional activity costs for optional field trip admission if required.  Financial costs are kept at a minimum because the real cost for every member is their commitment, time, and effort to make CCM cooperative a fun and exciting time for everyone.

Q:

How do I apply for membership?

A:

Every family interested in CCM Co-op must first attend one, if not all, of our Meet & Greet Events.  Once you have met these minimum requirements you may Click APPLICATION to apply.  A $20 non-refundable application fee is required per family.

Q:

When will I know if I have been accepted?

A:

Enrollment notifications will begin going out on May 1 for the Fall Term and November 1 for the Spring Term.  All tuition and fees must be paid by August 1 for Fall Term or January 1 for Spring Term to prevent forfeiture of placement to the next available family on the waitlist.

Q:

Can I drop off my children?

A:

No.  This is not a drop-off program.  A parent must be present during co-op and help their student in activities.

Q:

Can I enroll students that are not my children in the case that I am homeschooling or babysitting children from other families?

A:

No.  Parents (or guardians or homeschooling grandparents) are only allowed to enroll their own children for co-op.

Q:

Does the co-op have programs for children who are not of school-age yet?

A:

Yes.  We will activities inclusive of Pre-K and Kindergarten age students who are enrolled with an older sibling in first through eighth grade.

Q:

Is CCM Co-op a religious organization?

A:

We are a collection of families from a variety of denominations.  We do not have a statement of faith that members are required to adhere to, as our purpose is to support each other in our homeschool endeavors without focusing on specific beliefs or worship styles.  However, you will find an environment of faith and a Christian worldview in all our classes and activities.

Q:

Does the co-op have a waiting list?

A:

Yes.  Once we have met capacity for the term any additional interested families will be placed on the waiting list.  Should an opening become available these families will be contacted first.  The number of families we can add each successive term depends on the number of families not returning.

Q:

Can a mother stay with her young children all day?

A:

Yes!  CCM Co-op is a very family-friendly environment, babies and toddlers are always welcome.  However, many locations may not have a nursery.  Speak with your Director about this possibility.  Parents will need to care for and assist all of their children as needed.

Q:

Does the co-op accommodate special needs children?

A:

All children are welcome at CCM Co-op, however, if a child becomes disruptive please remove the child from the activity until they are ready to participate again.

Q:

What kinds of lessons does co-op conduct?

A:

CCM Co-op will cover a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, art, handicrafts, poetry, literature, math games, sloyd, drill, hymn, folk songs, composer study, picture study, science and nature activities.

Q:

What will a typical co-op day look like?

A:

Most classes will be done in groups.  If we have a large number of families we may group children by age and complete certain activities separately in rotation.  Our first term will definitely have a learning curve.

Q:

Are there other activities outside of class days?

A:

Yes.  We may plan a variety of field trips, nature days, and of course MNO throughout the term.
