A picture is worth a thousand words...

Updated: Jan 30, 2020

When it comes to the 'RICHES" of a Classical Charlotte Mason Education one can't happen but to think about Picture Study. I remember taking Art Appreciation in college and this truly was my first experience with many of these great works of art. I unfortunately did not receive a Classical Charlotte Mason education. I am not even a homeschool graduate. I attended public school like most kids of my day...(which shall not be mentioned:) Lets just say homeschooling was not legal until I was near the end of my pubic school journey. So you see, I didn't know what I was missing.

Anyway, back to Picture Study. I truly delight in learning these beautiful works of art with my children. In our homeschool we study one picture for two weeks. The first week I introduce the artists and one of their most notable works. I let everyone have as much time taking in the picture as they would like, then I remove the picture from view and we talk about it. What do they remember? What do they think the picture is called? etc...

The following week I give each student their own personal chalkboard with multi-colored chalk. They love using the chalk to try and recreate the work on their own. Sometimes, I even join in the fun!

If you have not found the free links on Classical Charlotte Mason to our Picture Study Prints then please check it out! Many are available in PDF format to print at home or at your favorite printer. Some (in blue) I plan on updating to PDF prints as soon as I can. I hope you enjoy!
